3001:MMMI offers new ways for an audience to collaboratively perform music. We offer a basic score — a set of digital instrument sounds, chord progressions, sets of riffs, volume dynamics, etc. — and allow everyone in the audience with a J2ME (Java) enabled phone to fill in the details of the melody and counter-melodies.
The overall structure of the performance will be scored in advance by Joo Youn and Josh. It will provide a means of sculpting the audience interactions into a unified sound and limit the overall cacophony and chaos.
